Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri beberapa ekstrak tanaman dan mengidentifikasi senyawa aktif antibakteri terhadap Escherichia coli resisten antibiotik. Rimpang lengkuas (Alpinia galanga), biji pala (Myristica fragrans), kayu secang (Caesalpinia sappan), bunga cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum), umbi bawang putih (Allium sativum), daun papaya (Carica papaya), daun sirih (Piper betle), daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum), kulit biji jambu mete (Anacardium occidentale), dan daun jambu mete diekstraksi menggunakan penyari etanol 96% dengan metode maserasi. Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak dilakukan dengan metode difusi disk. Kromatografi lapis tipis dan bioautografi dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi senyawa aktif antibakteri. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan adanya zona hambat di sekitar disk yang mengandung ekstrak. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa semua ekstrak mampu menghambat pertumbuhan E. coli resisten antibiotik. Ekstrak bunga cengkeh mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi dengan senyawa aktif eugenol. Ekstrak bunga cengkeh berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai agen antibakteri untuk melawan E. coli resisten antibiotik.
